1st EM® SEMINAR IN SABAH CLOSED WITH RESOUNDING SUCCESS

Participants and speakers applauded introduction of EM® Technology in Sabah

Kunak, Sabah, 24 Nov 2009: Scents of Borneo, together with Enviro Jamof Sdn Bhd, ended the first Effective Microorganisms (EM®) seminar in Sabah with a high attendance rate of almost 95%. The 2-day seminar, held at Borneo Paradise Eco Farm, was attended by participants from Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Papar, Ranau, Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu and Kunak.

YB Datuk Nilwan Kabang graced the opening ceremony held on 22 November 2009, sending a strong message across by wholly supporting the event.

“I believe EM® technology will become a good investment for land owners, especially those in the agriculture and livestock industry. The government will lend its full support and assistance to EM® related programme, and we hope more people will come forth and embrace the use of nature farming without usage of synthetic chemical in their vegetables, fruits, cattle or poultry. With the initial launch in Kota Kinabalu, I hope Kunak and Tawau will be the next biggest EM® towns in Sabah.

I look forward to seeing a localized ‘Kundasang’ right here, but with local produce which are organically treated with EM®.”

The main speaker of the seminar, Mr Sawada Tetsuya, Director of Enviro Jamof Sdn Bhd is equally pleased about the increasing awareness of EM® in Sabah.

“Although Malaysia is one of the late boomers in using EM®, we are extremely happy with its latest development. With the current speed of dissemination we are confident to say that Malaysia will be one of the leading countries within a short span of time.

We will be organizing a major event, “EM Forum Malaysia 2010” in Penang on 7 Aug 2010, followed by another One Million Mudballs application into the rivers of Penang, and we are expecting Dr Teruo Higa to be with us for this occasion.”

The organizer of the event, Director Mr Clarence Chiuh of Scents of Borneo, officiated the closing ceremony with Mr Sawada Tetsuya and speakers from Kelantan, Mr Hamizat Bin Kamsan and Mr Mohd Najib Bin Abdul Rahman and speaker Mr Nordin Wan Ibrahim from Tawau (Balung).

Mr Clarence Chiuh, who is also the main distributor of EM®, has this to add, “I am proud to host the first EM® seminar right here in Kunak and I certainly look forward to spreading this beneficial and educational program to the rest of East Coast.

Rural Development Minister, YB Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin, and local assemblymen has given their vote of support for nature farming, by sending their staff or representatives for this 2-day seminar, and all the participants have unanimously expressed their appreciation for the valuable practical experience and concise notes. This is the best evidence we need, that the public understand the authenticity and effectiveness of EM®”

The 2-day seminar at Borneo Paradise Eco Farm include an educational syllabus on EM and its applications in different fields, and more importantly, the hands-on sessions on making compost, organic fertilizers, waste water treatment, recycling kitchen garbage into fertilizers & sanitation agent.
